Its begining to look a lot like Christmas… everywhere you go…
I say Christmas is everyday, if we have the opprtunity to be of good cheer then lets be cheerful, nobody has time for the Grinch.
Last year I made my little family PJs for Christmas and we loved them, well sort of. I was still very new at sewing, and still learning. Needless to say I made a few mistakes on my husbands and my PJs last year, I didnt prewash and our Star War flannel pjs got shorter. And I had no idea on how to properly install elastic with my serger. So I managed and they are still wearable.
This year my list seems longer than last years so Im tackleing the small gifts first!
Since Love Notions Patterns released the Ladies Oakley, Girls Acorn Vest and Peanut Vest I’ve made a total of seven!! My last one was a Peanut vest for my friends dolly. I have two boys so Hulk gets to try on all of dolly outfits. View A is such a quick sew specially the Peanut Vest. Im in love with this vest and all of its options. This faux fur us from Joanns.
Now my alltime favorite pattern for my boys as pijamas or as a set to get some scraps to good use, the Moto Maxx Set from Love Notions.
First off, I LOVE the many options to do color block.
I made my oldest son’s Moto Maxx a size 5T and there is room for growth. The blue is cotton lycra from Elevated Fashion Fabrics and I love it! The print fabric is part of the Family Gamenight from Back Stitch Fabrics which I won by a random pick from participating in a sew along with Alex Radu. This is a lovely win! The fabric is just perfect!
For my youngest son I did a size 3T and I also use cotton lycra from Elevated Fashion Fabric. For this one I used up all my different green scraps. I didnt adjust the length on either the top or pants because most of the RTW pjs begin to get too short within a few months, and these kids are at that growing stage.
I did add a band instead of hemming the top. Also I added 3/4in in the rise.
Its such a fun sew. The tops stitching was done by my regular machine and regular thread with the tension on 4 and with the longest stitch. Take in mind that each machine is different. I encased the eleastic in the band.
We were having fun taking pictures.
Don’t Forget to follow the Holiday Tour this week!!!
